Jamboree

The Annual Calgary Minor Football Charity Jamboree (est. 2010) for peewee and bantam age teams takes place in mid-August every year.   This prestigious event kicks off the fall tackle football season and is important for player/team development and continued evaluation of players in game situations.

This event also acts as our primary community fundraiser with all proceeds supporting Ronald McDonald House Charities® Alberta. Over 20 teams participate in this one day event, at Shouldice Athletic Park, which is proudly and honorably directed and operated by valued Cowboys Minor Football volunteers. All parents/family members are responsible for fulfilling at least one position which may include food sales, bake sale, providing baked goods, gate admission collection, field gate monitoring, silent auction or raffle tent, 50-50 ticket sales promotion, parking/traffic control and any other assignments/opportunities as listed on the volunteer sign-up schedule available prior to the event.

Corporate sponsorship and donations provided by family, fans, friends and alumni also play a primary role in this fundraiser. By 2023, nearly a half million dollars had been raised to help keep families close while their child is receiving medical care at a local hospital.  Thank you to every volunteer – past and present - for doing the right thing, at the right time, for the right reason!

Stick Officials

PEEWEE and BANTAM parent volunteers are needed for stick official duties. A team of three officials is required at each HOME GAME throughout the season. Stick Officials meet at the scorer’s table on the field prior to the start of the game. The referees and league organizers will provide instruction at that time. Please refrain from wearing Cowboys apparel when officiating.

50/50 Ticket Sales

The Cowboys are asked to supply players & parents to sell 50/50 tickets at Calgary Stampeder home games throughout the season. This is a CBFA league fundraiser which in turn keeps the registration cost down for each team. This is an extremely important event that all our parents are required to do and relies upon our Atom, Peewee, Bantam and Spring teams to address the significant commitment that starts in the summer before the batam season starts. Cowboys dates will be announced as soon as the schedule comes out.

Year End Banquet

The banquet includes a catered meal, individual player awards, presentation of charitable contributions, and, most importantly, a celebration of the Cowboys accomplishments as individual teams and as an organization.

Numerous volunteers are needed for the Year End Banquet for Atom, Peewee, and Bantam Teams, which is held at the Calgary Italian Cultural Centre. Individuals may volunteer for hall decoration, ticket collection/distribution, set-up, clean-up and numerous other jobs.
